Along with the majority of churches in the City, St Pancras, Soper Lane was in the Great Fire of London in September 1666. In 1670 a Rebuilding Act was passed and a committee set up under the stewardship of Sir Christopher Wren to decide which would be rebuilt. St Pancras, Soper Lane was noy amongst the 51 chosen. Instead the parish was united with that of St Mary-le-Bow, and the site retained as a graveyard.
